Privacy Policy
CopyFlicker ("the app", "we", "us") is a mobile application that recognizes text from photos and PDF documents on your device and lets you send that text to a web browser you have paired with the app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Summary
- CopyFlicker does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email, or any personal profile information.
- Text recognition (OCR) happens on your device. Your photos and PDFs are not uploaded to us for processing.
- When you choose to send recognized text to a paired browser, that text is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our pairing service at copyflicker.com, which relays it to the browser session you paired with. The text is used only to complete that delivery and is not stored by us.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
Information the app accesses
Camera and photos/documents. To recognize text, the app needs to read an image or PDF. You provide this by taking a photo with the camera or selecting a file or photo using your device's system picker. These images and documents are processed locally on your device using on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit). They are not sent to us or to any third party for the purpose of recognition.
Recognized text you choose to send. When you scan a pairing QR code and push text to your browser, the recognized text is the only content transmitted off the device. This happens only when you actively initiate it.
How your recognized text is transmitted
- You open copyflicker.com in a browser and scan the pairing QR code it shows. The QR contains a one-time pairing token and a secure (
https) address. - When you push text, the app sends it over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our pairing service (
copyflicker.com), identified by that token. - Our service relays the text to the browser session associated with the token — that is, the browser you paired with.
During step 2–3 the text passes through servers we operate, which are hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. The text is held only momentarily to complete delivery and is not written to long-term storage or logs by us. The app rejects any pairing address that is not https, so text is never sent over an unencrypted connection.
Note: We do not control, and are not responsible for, what the paired browser or the device it runs on does with the text after delivery. The paired browser is your own.
Information we do NOT collect
- No account, name, email address, or contact information.
- No advertising identifiers; no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- No location data.
- No copies of your photos, PDFs, or recognized text retained on our servers.

Data retention and deletion
Because the app does not create an account or store your content on our servers, there is no personal data profile for us to retain or delete. Recognized text is only held transiently in transit to your paired browser. If you have any question about data associated with your use of the service, contact privacy@copyflicker.com.
Children's privacy
CopyFlicker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Third-party services
- Google ML Kit (on-device text recognition): runs locally; may download recognition model files to your device. Text and images are processed on the device and are not sent to Google by the app for recognition.
- Cloudflare: provides the hosting/network infrastructure for copyflicker.com and the pairing relay described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and posting the revised policy at this URL.
